Today Chris Shumaker came into class to speak and provided me with some very helpful stuff. First off, he really helped me with the first question you should ask yourself when trying to come up with a brief: "why would someone buy this product?" If you can't answer that question with a unique answer then you have a problem. I really liked the powerpoint that he showed us today and it really helped me start aligning and putting all the pieces together. I'm not sure why it hit me in the face at 100 mph today, maybe it was Chris or maybe it was just pure coincidence that everything sunk in today, but whatever the reason was, I am thankful and glad that I'm finally starting to get all this stuff.
Secondly, after coming up with an idea, he used the phrase "does it make your palms sweaty?" I thought this was a very interesting way that has really resonated with me all day today. I got to thinking about it while walking across campus and said "he's right." At first I didn't really put much thought into it but I am going to use this to critique the work and fall back on his saying.
I appreciate Chris coming in and sharing with us today and definitely got something positive out of it.
